Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000
Role Description
Manages machine design projects from concept development to successful project launch for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Custom Equipment as assigned. Designs and coordinates the mechanical and electrical activities related to the concept, testing, design, detail, assembly and fielding of equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Develops concepts for machine design, including CAD models and drawings.
2. Reviews designs, models and develops other applicable documents for a project.
3. Prepares cost estimates, delivery schedules and product cost in response to quote requests.
4. Applies knowledge of company capabilities and operations to determine material and labor hours needed for product costing and verifies compliance to marketing and sales expectations.
5. Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
6. Prepares mechanical assembly layouts and details.
7. Assists in mechanical & electrical component selection.
8. Works with purchasing to develop schedules, cost, and cost reduction.
9. Prepares mechanical equations for machinery.
10. Develops initial design ideas and designs machines.
11. Defines reasonable project goals.
12. Maintains the product launch budget, schedule and hours.
13. Communicates to internal staff, vendors and customers.
14. Follow up phone, email and communication support to customers as required.
15. Supports customer relations and customer satisfaction.
16. Prepares reports as required by management.
17. Prepares technical machinery information and manuals.
18. Provides support for mechanical and electrical assembly in machine building.
19. Computer operation [Solidworks CAD program, Sage ERP, MISys MRP, and Microsoft software]
20. **Other duties may be assigned as required by management.**
Supervisory Responsibilities: None but desire to grow to lead a small team is preferred. Demonstrated leadership capability is a bonus.

Qualifications: to perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and 15+ years related mechanical or electrical engineering experience and/or training; or Bachelor of Science (B.S.M.E.) and 10+ years related experience. Previous estimating responsibilities in machine building or industrial automation are required. Solidworks experience required. ERP experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Language: Ability to reason, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations as well as determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism like formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc. in difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
