T-628 Tape Applicator System for TrafFix Channelizer Drums
Over 34 years ago, Jack Kulp and his wife, Sue, co-founded TrafFix Devices, Inc., headquartered in San Clemente, California, with the goal to manufacture and distribute durable, long-lasting, and high-quality road and highway safety products for the construction, traffic control, and transportation industries.
The Challenge
Growing volume in their Channelizer Drum product line required Geoff Maus, V.P. of Engineering, to search for a solution to accurately apply reflective tape to a round drum surface. Large production runs required quick response to meet customer needs, and Geoff needed to make his process more efficient.
The Solution
Straub Design’s engineers worked closely with the team from TrafFix to develop a custom system that utilizes the T-628 Tape Applicator, mounted on a specially designed turntable to apply four lanes of reflective tape that meets the high-performance requirements that all TrafFix products exhibit.
