SD-680 Fill Valve Taping System

Automated Tape Application for Filled-Bag Valve Protection

The SD-680 Fill Valve Taping System is designed to dispense, cut, and apply pressure-sensitive tape to filled bags to support and protect the fill-valve area.

Using an automatic tape applicator and integrated control system, the SD-680 applies tape to the leading edge of the fill valve, extending up to 4″ (102 mm) on either side of the valve for maximum reinforcement. The system is compatible with 2″–6″ (50.8–152.4 mm) wide tape and is engineered for dependable operation in high-throughput packaging environments.

Overview

Fill-Valve Protection Made Automatic

The SD-680 automates a critical step in bag handling by consistently reinforcing the fill-valve area during production. Controlled tape feed and sealing ensure reliable placement and adhesion, helping reduce damage during handling, conveying, and downstream operations.

Designed for integration into both new and existing packaging lines, the SD-680 supports consistent results while minimizing manual handling and operator variability.

Consistency That Supports Bag Integrity

By automating the application of a single L-clip tape tab to the fill-valve area, the SD-680 provides uniform reinforcement across every bag.

Operators benefit from straightforward operation, while packaging teams gain improved bag durability and predictable output at line speed.

One System — Flexible Line Integration

The SD-680 Fill Valve Taping System is designed to adapt to a range of bag formats and production layouts and supports:

  • Automatic L-clip tape application at the fill-valve area
  • Left-hand or right-hand operating configurations
  • Integration with conveying equipment
  • Installation as a standalone unit or as part of an existing packaging line

Its modular design allows the SD-680 to be tailored to specific facility and line-flow requirements.

Built to Match Your Packaging Requirements

The SD-680 can be equipped with optional features to support safety, product handling, and system integration, including:

  • Full guarding
    Enhances operator safety
  • Left-hand or right-hand models
    Supports flexible line layouts
  • Conveying system
Provides automated bag transport through the taping station
  • Top hold-down conveyor
    Stabilizes bags during tape application
  • Integration to existing packaging lines
Allows seamless retrofit into current operations

Straub Design engineers work closely with customers to ensure the SD-680 configuration aligns with bag type, line speed, and facility requirements.
