SD-660 Automatic Tape Splicing System

The SD-660 Automatic Tape Splicing System is designed to splice two planetary-wound rolls of tape together automatically as one roll approaches depletion—allowing production to continue without stopping the line.

As the active roll is consumed, the system seamlessly transitions to the next roll. The depleted roll can then be replaced and prepared for the following splice while production remains in motion. This ensures consistent tape delivery while minimizing downtime and operator interruption.

Overview

Uninterrupted Tape Feed Made Simple

The SD-660 is engineered to eliminate production stoppages caused by tape roll changeovers. By automating the splicing process, it maintains a continuous tape supply for downstream operations—supporting higher throughput and more predictable production flow.

Built for industrial environments, the SD-660 integrates smoothly into tape-dependent processes where uptime, consistency, and efficiency are critical.

Productivity Through Continuity

By removing the need to stop machinery for tape roll changes, the SD-660 reduces lost production time and helps stabilize process output. Operators can safely prepare the next roll after a splice occurs, rather than rushing changeovers during line stoppages.

The result is smoother operation, reduced disruption, and improved overall equipment effectiveness.

One System — Continuous Operation

The SD-660 is designed to support a wide range of tape-driven applications requiring uninterrupted tape feed. It is compatible with:

  • Pressure-sensitive (PSA) tapes
  • Single-sided and double-sided tapes
  • Planetary-wound tape rolls

The system is not intended for adhesive transfer tapes, ensuring reliable splice performance within its designed operating parameters.

Built to Match Production Requirements

The SD-660 is configured to support common industrial tape sizes and speeds, including:

  • Tape widths from 3/4″ (19 mm) to 2″ (50.8 mm)
  • lanetary-wound rolls up to 18″ OD with 3″ ID cores
  • Operating speeds up to 500 feet per minute (153 mpm)

Its compact footprint and self-contained design allow straightforward integration into existing production lines.
