SD-658 Tape Applicator

Precision Application of VHB, Foam, and Butyl Tapes

The SD-658 Tape Applicator is designed to apply various lengths of pressure-sensitive VHB, foam, and butyl tapes, with the liner either removed or left in place, depending on application requirements. A rotary knife cutting system provides smooth, clean tape ends for consistent, professional results.

The SD-658 can apply tape to a moving product, or the applicator itself can be traversed across the product—allowing the product motion to pull tape from the applicator. This flexibility supports a wide range of automated production configurations.

Overview

Controlled Specialty Tape Application Made Simple

The SD-658 is engineered to support reliable application of thicker and adhesive-critical tapes where precise placement and bonding performance are essential.

Its mechanically stable design and controlled tape feed allow consistent results across demanding applications. Whether integrated into a full material-handling system or deployed as a standalone applicator, the SD-658 delivers predictable, repeatable performance.

Precision That Supports Performance

By combining a rotary knife cutting mechanism with controlled tape feed and optional bonding enhancements, the SD-658 reduces variability that can compromise adhesion or product appearance.

Operators benefit from accurate tape placement, while process engineers gain confidence that tape length, alignment, and bonding conditions remain within specification.

One Applicator — Flexible Deployment

The SD-658 is designed to integrate easily into a variety of automated environments and can support:

  • Tape application to moving products
  • Applicator-moving configurations over stationary products
  • Standalone use or full system integration
  • Application of liner-on or liner-removed tapes

This flexibility makes the SD-658 suitable for both dedicated stations and broader automation systems.

Built to Match Your Process Requirements

The SD-658 Tape Applicator can be configured with optional features to support material handling, bonding performance, and system integration, including:

  • Complete material-handling systems, explore material handling solutions
For fully automated product presentation and conveyance
  • Liner rewind
Enables application of tape with the liner removed
  • Product heater system
Improves tape bonding performance on demanding materials
  • Control systems to start and stop application [UC-6 controller]
