SD-2415 Splicer for Level-Wound Rolls

Continuous Tape Splicing for Uninterrupted Lamination

The SD-2415 Splicer is designed to automatically splice level-wound rolls of tape using a heat-bond splicing tab, enabling continuous lamination without stopping production.

By seamlessly transitioning from one tape roll to the next, the SD-2415 supports uninterrupted processing of tape with polyethylene liner at operating speeds of up to 75 ft/min (22.9 m/min). This makes it an ideal solution for high-throughput lamination and tape processing environments.

Overview

Continuous Splicing Made Reliable

The SD-2415 is engineered to eliminate downtime associated with tape roll changeovers. A controlled tape dancer arm maintains consistent tape delivery during the splicing process, allowing downstream equipment to continue operating without interruption.

The system automatically joins the end of a depleted roll to a new roll using heat-sensitive tabbing tape, ensuring a secure splice while preserving tape integrity.

Uptime Through Automation

By automating the splicing of level-wound tape rolls, the SD-2415 reduces manual intervention and prevents production stoppages.

Operators benefit from simplified roll management, while production teams gain smoother operation and higher overall equipment effectiveness.

One Splicer — Continuous Lamination

The SD-2415 is designed for integration into tape lamination and processing systems and supports:

  • Continuous lamination processes with polyethylene-lined tapes
  • Automated splicing between level-wound rolls
  • Integration with downstream taping, laminating, and converting equipment

A dedicated liner rewind spindle removes and collects liner during operation, improving housekeeping and simplifying liner disposal.

Built to Match Your Process Requirements

The SD-2415 includes features and integration considerations designed to support stable, high-speed operation, including:

  • Automatic heat-bond splicing Uses heat-sensitive tabbing tape to join rolls without stopping production
  • Tape dancer arm Maintains continuous tape movement during the splice cycle
  • Separate liner rewind spindle Collects liner for easy removal and disposal

Straub Design engineers work closely with customers to ensure the SD-2415 integrates cleanly into existing or newly designed processing systems.
